More Precedent for ND to Lower Ticket Prices
We still can’t believe Notre Dame had the audacity to raise ticket prices over the last two seasons. The Irish went 1-6 at home in 2007 and lost to a lowly Syracuse team in 2008. In 2009 Notre Dame has been scrambling to sell tickets. Here’s a recap of some of the issues surrounding home games at ND Stadium:
1)Added games(7 home games and 1 “home” game in San Antonio)
2)Poor product on the field in recent seasons
3)Increased ticket prices
4)Weakest economy since the 1930s
5)Crackdown on fun in and around the Stadium
6)Stale gameday experience in the Stadium
7)Uninteresting home games on the schedule
8)Abysmal home field record(17 losses in the last 6 seasons.)
9)Lack of conveniently located parking
10)Lengthy game times as a result of excessive TV timeouts
Michigan lowered their prices heading into this season(although they will get a nice bump next year after last Saturday’s win.)
Now there is added precedent:
The bad economy has forced the New York Yankees to rethink its uber-aggressive ticket pricing. It already cut prices at its new stadium once, back in April, and now buyers of premium seats will get an even better deal in 2010.
CNBC has exclusively obtained the 2010 ticket price list that the Yankees will send out to its season ticket holders in the coming days and prices for more than 80 percent of the stadium will remain the same.
Some of the highest price seats will see reductions of up to 40 percent
