Swarbrick Maxin’ and Relaxin’ in South Bend

Swarbrick is taking it easy as the entire Notre Dame football universe hangs in the balance:

SOUTH BEND, IND. — Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick has begun the work of trying to find a new coach for the Fighting Irish.

While Fighting Irish fans hoped to hear word that Swarbrick was spotted in in Gainesville, Fla., going after Urban Meyer or in Norman, Okla., for a talk with Bob Stoops, Swarbrick remained on campus Tuesday laying the groundwork for his search.

He spent part of the day talking with Notre Dame assistant coaches about the football program before seven of them fan out across the country to try to reassure high school seniors who already have committed to attend the school next season.

Swarbrick announced on Monday the school had fired Charlie Weis after five seasons.
