Well, according to this guy the deal is done. Welcome Mr. Stoops. Maybe.

Stoops is the guy. I have heard, thru a very reliable source that he has signed the contract today, and we can expect an announcement sometime on Friday or so (he needs to let OU know, etc.). I guess the hang up has been around guaranteed money, which has been cleared up.

ND used an agency to assist with the process (which is why he and Swarbick both can claim they didn’t talk directly to one another)

Stoops’ desire to come to Notre Dame is an effort to build back ND like he did at OU. Stoops sees the opp to define his legacy in more of restoring luster than maintaining programs. Stoops has been the ONLY target ND has reached out to. Brian Kelly, etc have never gotten a call from the agency or ND. From what I heard – Meyer had his chance back in 2005 and that ship has sailed. Stoops reportedly said “Bring on USC” when he signed the deal.
